Once upon a time, this place is widely known as Barangay Cang-alwang or this place was belongs to the locality of Barangay Cang-alwang.

Unfortunately, there was a letter came and addresses “Tongo Petogo Sumpay Bogo” and this letter was placed at the Petogo Tree which was located at the north side of this barangay. Until now Petogo Tree is still alive. So, from this event, the hunky word became popularity known as Tongo Petogo Sumpay Sa Bogo. Till the time came, this confirms and became an official name which registered as Tongo and Petogo was omitted.

Barangay Tongo has a twin barangay which is Barangay Cang-alwang. We celebrate our grand Fiesta in honor of our Patron Senior Santo Nino with the highlights Sinulog Festival and some other activities.
